A friend of mine had lent me The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson several months ago, but I hadn’t gotten around to reading it. I had heard of Sanderson and had acquired his Way of the Kings novel on Audiobook but hadn’t gotten around to reading it yet. He made a great impression while on the Epic Fantasy panel at the San Diego Comic Con that I had attended with the same friend back in 2011. Haven read Sanderson’s novella, Legion, last year, I was interested to dive into the series that had helped launch him into the SF/F public eye.
I found myself intrigued with Final Empire throughout...

After trying to find the time and right co-host to get another podcast started, everything is finally falling into place. My tentative goal is to have the first episode up, sometime during the week of February 11th. This will move up or down based on my schedule and that of my co-host as well as what day we finally nail down to record. With the Super Bowl coming up next weekend, as well as trying to get taxes done, and my kid’s birthday party planned, it’ll be a hectic couple weeks.
What’s the Podcast About?
We will talk about a variety of stuff on the Podcast. It’ll predominately be...

One of the few, non-Fantasy book series that I have read an enjoyed in the last 15 years has been the Jason Bourne books by Robert Ludlum. The characters are great and the stories intriguing. Some of the covert, military elements that I thought would bore me in book form, turned out to be some of my favorite parts.
So when I see that Peter V. Brett is promoting a book from a new author entitled Shadow Ops: Control Point, and describes it as “Black Hawk Down Meets the X-Men” I get intrigued. Mix in the fact that the author, Myke Cole, plays D&D and has served for this great country of ours, and...

I remember how AWESOME 2011 was in gaming. Arkham City, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3… and that was all in the last two months of the year. The 10 months before that were equally as awesome.
Luckily Arkham City and Skyrim took me through an extremely disappointing 2012. As far as 2012 goes in terms of releases, it was pretty depressing. The only highlight for me was Diablo III. It’s the only game I am currently still playing that was released last year. I’m not a huge Halo fan, and even though I bought CoD:BO 2, it’s quickly grown stale. Madden finally felt fresh, but like everything else,...

Goodreads Review HERE
I never got into the Fantasy genre until I read The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. The only reason I read TBI was because I thought it had an awesome cover. A quarter of the way through the dark, unforgiving world that Abercrombie had created, I knew I was hooked and would be reading the entire First Law series. Almost 6 years later, a cover of another book pulled me into an intriguing world, with an equally dark and brooding main character as some of the ones that Joe created in his world.
It was actually the cover to King of Thorns, book 2 in Mark Lawrence’s Broken...

I have avoided Skylanders with every ounce of energy I can muster. It’s a money trap and I don’t have the money. Several times I have considered going through and stocking up on the figures and then selling them for a hefty profit on eBay, but always refrain.
Part of my hesitation at playing it, other than I know the resulting windfall of stupid plastic figurines that would inhabitant my house afterwards, was that I just couldn’t get into the way the game was played or the story behind it.
Then Disney introduced this little gem this past week. Disney Infinity.
Damn you Disney. Damn you to...
